Welcome to La Ferme de l’Eglise

We are situated in the heart of beautiful, peaceful countryside, about 45 mins from Cherbourg on the west coast of the Cotentin peninsula opposite Jersey. We have four self-catering holiday cottages (or in Normandy, Gites) – The Stables, Chèvrefeuille, Jasmin And Le Rêve. Our farm is in a charming and secluded spot behind the church within a typical Norman village. The grounds (3 acres) are enclosed so children can play in safety, and we encourage them to meet our animals. The gites in manche are close to uncrowded sandy beaches only 8km from our farm, and ideally placed for visiting Mont St Michel, Bayeux, and the Landing Beaches, or maybe house hunting in the Cotentin area. The attractive market towns of La Haye du Puits and Portbail, 6km and 8km away, have a good selection of local shops and restaurants as well as supermarkets. If you are a fan of French street markets there is one available every day within easy driving distance. There are many fetes, fairs and festivals during the year, or you might just want to enjoy the tranquillity & beauty of the surrounding countryside and the nature trails accessible from close to the house.

We have a selection of bicycles, table football, table tennis and a trampoline available on site. Other sporting and leisure activities available nearby include; tennis; golf; horse riding; canoeing; windsurfing; sailing; Land-yachting and a high rope adventure park. The old railway lines have been transformed into a vast network of cycle routes going to La Haye du Puits and Coutances in one direction, and Portbail and Briquebec in the other covering the whole of the peninsular, all of which can be joined very close to the house. The property and area are dog-friendly, and there are beaches nearby that allow dogs even during the high season. We also have free Wi-Fi access in all gites.

The farm itself is situated within the Parc des Marais, a designated nature reserve with a diverse local bird life, deer and even the odd wild boar! There is an 8km round walk. This starts from our house, going via the Mont de Doville and along the marshes, before returning. We speak French, English and German.
